This is a project I did through oDesk (now Upwork), with a client from South Africa. The client wanted to set a story she told at a friend’s wedding into a scroll to give to the couple on their first anniversary.

The wedding took place on the banks of the Zambezi river in South Africa, so I edited a stock photo of a sunset in the same place to look like a watercolor, and added line drawings to emphasis certain parts of the story. Line drawings were all adapted from clip art, and the illustration of the Little Buffalo was traced from a clip art sketch, and then simplified.

The piece was printed full-bleed on A3 paper. Click on the image for a larger view (2.6 MB).
